Original Entry Date 8/4/2015: The Temples of the OT are symbolizations of our literal bodies as they are Temples for the Holy Spirit:
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NKJV: Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
King David’s heart desired to construct a Temple that was to be built so the Ark of the Covenant (God’s Presence) could reside within:
1 Chronicles 28:2 NRSVA: 2 Then King David rose to his feet and said: ‘Hear me, my brothers and my people. I had planned to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, for the footstool of our God; and I made preparations for building.
He then announces that God has appointed his son Solomon to be the one to build His Temple. David instructs Solomon to keep his heart set on the Lord:
1 Chronicles 28:9-10 NRSVA: ‘And you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve him with single mind and willing heart; for the Lord searches every mind, and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will abandon you for ever. 10 Take heed now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house as the sanctuary; be strong, and act.’
David hands Solomon the intricately detailed set of plans for constructing the Temple; plans he himself proclaims were the complete directive of God:
1 Chronicles 28:19 NRSVA: ‘All this, in writing at the Lord’s direction, he made clear to me—the plan of all the works.’
So there we see how even the smallest detail was God’s design, not of the mind of man.
Skip to 1 Chronicles 29:1 and read how David describes Solomon as being young and inexperienced for the task but God has chosen him anyways. I like how the VOICE puts it:
David (to the entire assembly): Although my son Solomon was chosen by God and has the ability to build a beautiful temple, he is still young and inexperienced for such a great work. This work is not for men—it is for the Eternal God.
This is a beautiful picture painted showing how only God can create, construct, beautify, and/or change the inside of His Temple. How only He can change the inside of a person. It is a GREAT work done inside of us because this is where God lives.

1 Chronicles 29:2-5 NRSVA: So I have provided for the house of my God, so far as I was able, the gold for the things of gold, the silver for the things of silver, and the bronze for the things of bronze, the iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood, besides great quantities of onyx and stones for setting, antimony, coloured stones, all sorts of precious stones, and marble in abundance. 3 Moreover, in addition to all that I have provided for the holy house, I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, and because of my devotion to the house of my God I give it to the house of my God: 4 three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, for overlaying the walls of the house, 5 and for all the work to be done by artisans, gold for the things of gold and silver for the things of silver. Who then will offer willingly, consecrating themselves today to the Lord?’
I hear the Holy Spirit say that He has added and is still adding to His House that which He pleases. He has a set place and purpose for each part of His Body.
