3/22/2021: When I originally wrote this, I made a quick note of a chapter in the Bible and the revelation God gave me while I was reading, but no detail or reason why. I have done this a lot in the past and have learned to jot down some sort of detail to bring clarity when reviewing later on. There have been times I went back, read some notes, and had zero clues as to the reasoning behind the connection I wrote down.
This entry is about the Tabernacle of God in Exodus and how it connects to Jesus and is representative of His actual Body; His literal body while on earth as well as the Body of Believers today. There is SO MUCH detail that I would find it overwhelming to throw it all into one entry; so I am going to break it up over the next few days or weeks, however long it takes. I may take a break one day and share something else but we will see where the Lord Leads.
Original Entry Date: 11/30/2012: “Reading Exodus 25-31 and The Tabernacle (which literally means dwelling place or tent) symbolizes the redemption plan of Christ Jesus as well as His Body. The Most Holy Place is a symbol of the heart or the innermost being of a person; here is where the Ark of the Covenant was kept. The Ark of the Covenant is a symbol of Christ and there He is residing or dwelling within our inner heart.” – end of entry
3/22/2021: God begins to give Moses His detailed instruction for building the Tabernacle while he is on the mountain 40 days and 40 nights in the Presence of God. He is very specific in the items that are to be used to build this Holy Dwelling place. Each item has a symbolic meaning to a deep spiritual truth.
Exodus 25:1-9 NKJV: Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring Me an offering. From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart you shall take My offering. 3 And this is the offering which you shall take from them: gold, silver, and bronze; 4 blue, purple, and scarlet thread, fine linen, and goats’ hair; 5 ram skins dyed red, badger skins, and acacia wood; 6 oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense; 7 onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod and in the breastplate. 8 And let them make Me a sanctuary,] that I may dwell among them. 9 According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it.
For today’s entry we will go over the symbolic meaning of the items God specifies in His Word. We will use this as a reference for the days ahead.
- Gold – Represents the Divine nature; representing purity and that which has been tried and tested by fire..
- Bronze or Brass – Represents sin and the severe judgment against it. Interestingly, it is a very impure alloy because it is a mixture of different amounts of metals…it looks like gold; as an imitation of the Divin Nature.
- Silver – Symbolizes redemption; in the Bible, it was used to make purchases and payments.
- Blue – Represents the heavenly realm.
- Purple – Symbolic of Royalty.
- Scarlet or Red – Represents sacrifice and atonement of blood.
- Goat’s Hair – Sacrificial animal; also symbolizes humility and poverty.
- Ram’s skin dyed red – The ram is a type of Christ (Remember in Genesis 22:13, the ram that appeared to Abraham and took the place of his son, Isaac, as a sacrifice to God.) The skins being dyed red is representative of the power of Christ’s Blood that covers our sins.
- Badger skins – A covering of atonement; durability; the outer covering.
- Acacia Wood – Wood, in general, represents humanity and human weakness.
- Oil – This is a symbol of the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
- Sweet Incense – A symbol of Praise and Prayer.
