Original Entry Date 5/21/2009: Good Morning, Dear Lord! I’m so happy to wake up with You every morning. It brings the truest joy to my life that I’ve ever known! I have never felt so content as I do in my life as I do now knowing that You are in my life. That’s how I know I am on the right path.
You are so GREAT, You bring serenity to my soul, You are so BEAUTIFUL, You know the complete outline of my heart.
Word of the Day 3/31/2021: I was thinking this morning how fun it would be to post a word study every so often with all of you! Let’s start today!
Word of the Day – Horn
Verse of the Day –
1 Samuel 2:1 NKJV:
And Hannah prayed and said: “My heart rejoices in the Lord; My horn is exalted in the Lord. I smile at my enemies, Because I rejoice in Your salvation.
and
1 Samuel 2:10 NKJV:
The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken in pieces;
From heaven He will thunder against them.
The Lord will judge the ends of the earth.“He will give strength to His king,
And exalt the horn of His anointed.”
Horn translated from the Hebrew word “qeren”
Qeren is defined as the following:
1) horn
1a) horn
1b) of strength (fig)
1c) flask (container for oil)
1d) horn (as musical instrument)
1e) horn (of horn-like projections on the altar)
1f) of rays of light
1g) hill
Verse Note from the NET Bible.org: Horns of animals have always functioned as both offensive and defensive weapons for them. As a figure of speech the horn is therefore often used in the Bible as a symbol of human strength (see also in v. 10). The allusion in v. 1 to the horn being lifted high suggests a picture of an animal elevating its head in a display of strength or virility.
🙂
Made me think of this !!!!
Psalm 92:10 … But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil.
see “horn” and that meaning “1c) flask (container for oil)” !!!
=>Hannah praying and rejoicing in the Lord=lifting up her “horn” {lifts up her head-smile}
=>to be anointed{strengthened} with fresh oil for victory-triumph over enemies!!!
This is so beautiful!!!!!!
It makes me wonder what verse(s) go with this “1d) horn (as musical instrument)”.
Thanks Lina!
I’m sure you already know, but being anointed with oil is symbolic of being anointed with the Holy Spirit. Like Exodus 29:7 and in other verses. Have you ever that feeling of the Spirit of God…where you can be praying or just chilling and you feel a chill but its warm, hits your head and comes down your face, neck, shoulders…it feels like oil and its God literally pouring His Spirit down. Have you felt that before? I have…never told anyone though lol
oooo! Lina look!!

=>http://classic.net.bible.org/verse.php?book=exo&chapter=34&verse=29 => rays-radiance of God’s power streaming from Moses face after he met with God shone-horn[7160]
=>this is why horns were put on God’s altar to focus God’s presence and power – especially the horns for blood atonement! http://classic.net.bible.org/passage.php?passage=exodus%2030:10;Lev%204:7
=>face to face meeting — your face will shine = your horn exalted with radiance of God’s power
I bet Hannah’s face was lifted up & radiant
Wow!
http://classic.net.bible.org/verse.php?book=Psa&chapter=34&verse=5 NLT …. Those who look to Him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.
radiant http://classic.net.bible.org/strong.php?id=05102 = to shine, beam, flow, stream, light
The table of faces — communion with the Lord => your horn will be lifted up, your face will shine with radiance of God’s power and presence!!!!
