Symbolization:The Fall of Jericho

Original Entry Date 7/28/2017:

The Seven Trumpets

I have a post that describes the connection between the Seven Trumpets in Joshua and the Seven Trumpets in Revelation.
(you can read that blog post by clicking the link here: Symbolization: The Trumpets before the Ark
In Joshua, we read of seven priests, each with a trumpet, marching before the Ark of the Covenant. As we know, the Ark is a symbolic representation of Jesus Christ.
A trumpet sounding is a symbol of prophetic utterance (something I will go into at a greater depth in a future post)
Picture the 7 priests walking before the Ark of the Covenant sounding their trumpets. They are making way for the coming of the Lord.

It signifies those who prophesied the coming of Jesus the Messiah in the OT. It is also a picture of those who have and are still prophesying His second coming to this very day.)
That earlier post of mine connects these 7 priests to the 7 trumpets in Revelation. Do read that post if you wish to read more about it.

Seven Signifies Completion

The Children of Israel circle Jericho for 7 days, having 7 priests with 7 trumpets. On the 7th day, Israel circles Jericho 7 times.

Joshua 6:1-9 NKJV

Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in. And the Lord said to Joshua: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor. You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days. And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him.”
Then Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the Lord.” And he said to the people, “Proceed, and march around the city, and let him who is armed advance before the ark of the Lord.”
So it was, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the Lord advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord followed them. The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets.

Here we read God’s command to Joshua to circle the city of Jericho once everyday for 6 days. On the 7th day they were commanded to circle the city 7 times. This signifies a time of completion, more specifically the completion of time for the world.
Jericho typifies the world and Joshua typifies Jesus Christ. So here is another foreshadowing of what is to come as described in the Book of Revelation.

Since the Bible is a translation (OT being from Hebrew) it is beneficial to read & study the original language. It is very eye opening when you read the definitions of the words that were translated to English. Here is verse 5 with words/definitions pulled from a source on the web that you should bookmark for study (http://NET Bible):

” It shall come to pass<MASHAK>, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear<SHAMA> the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city <IYR>will fall <NAPHAL>down flat<TACHATH>. And the people shall go up<ALAH> every man straight before him.”

The time frame of the satanic rule on the earth is coming to completion. That is when the 2nd coming will be.

All is Destroyed, Except One

She said, “According to your words, so be it.” Then Rahab sent them off, and they departed; and she tied the scarlet cord in the window. Joshua 2:26

Rahab and her family were the only ones taken out of Jericho.

Joshua 6:15-25 NKJV

15 But it came to pass on the seventh day that they rose early, about the dawning of the day, and marched around the city seven times in the same manner. On that day only they marched around the city seven times. 16 And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people: “Shout, for the Lord has given you the city! 17 Now the city shall be doomed by the Lord to destruction, it and all who are in it. Only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent. 18 And you, by all means abstain from the accursed things, lest you become accursed when you take of the accursed things, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it. 19 But all the silver and gold, and vessels of bronze and iron, are consecrated to the Lord; they]shall come into the treasury of the Lord.”
20 So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. 21 And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword.
22 But Joshua had said to the two men who had spied out the country, “Go into the harlot’s house, and from there bring out the woman and all that she has, as you swore to her.” 23 And the young men who had been spies went in and brought out Rahab, her father, her mother, her brothers, and all that she had. So they brought out all her relatives and left them outside the camp of Israel. 24 But they burned the city and all that was in it with fire. Only the silver and gold, and the vessels of bronze and iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the Lord. 25 And Joshua spared Rahab the harlot, her father’s household, and all that she had. So she dwells in Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

Rahabs actions proved the authenticity of her faith, therefor she and her household were spare (read this in Joshua 2). In this she represents the Body of Christ in the end times; those who are reaped from the earth by the Son of Man who sat on a cloud:

Revelation 14:14-16 NKJV

14 Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat One like the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” 16 So He who sat on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped.

Placed Into God’s Treasury

But they burned the city and all that was in it with fire. Only the silver and gold, and the vessels of bronze and iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the Lord. Joshua 6:24

God commanded that the accursed items of Jericho be left behind to be burned. But, God commanded, that only the silver, the gold and the bronze be brought out. These were consecrated to the Him therefore, they would be brought out and placed into His treasury. Just as His people will be salvaged from the world when He brings His Judgement upon it.

I am a gal who lives in the Bay Area, CA. This site is not meant to be about me but rather it is about what God has shown and continues to show me in His Word and when I am in prayer with Him. I hope these entries inspire you to seek His Face, He desires you to do so and even if you don't think so...it is also what your heart and soul have longed for since birth. Over the years I wrote down every sort of spiritual revelation that would pop out at me when reading the Bible. I thought to myself, "what do you want me to d with all this, Lord?" That's when it hit me! Why not start a blog and put everything He has given you on there. And so I did.
