Symbolization: Overlaid with Gold

Original Entry Date 1/28/2015: Another beautiful example of the sanctification process of the Holy Spirit within after we come to believe in Jesus:

19 And he (Solomon) prepared the Holy of Holies in the inner room in which to set the ark of the covenant of the Lord.
20 The Holy of Holies was twenty cubits in length, in breadth, and in height. He overlaid it with pure gold. He also overlaid the cedar altar.
21 Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold, and he drew chains of gold across in front of the Holy of Holies and overlaid it with gold.
22 And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until all the house was finished. Also the whole [incense] altar that [stood outside the door but] belonged to the Holy of Holies he overlaid with gold.

This House Solomon is preparing is a representation of our very own bodies, most notably, our hearts. This is depicted by the inner room and the Holy of Holies. The Ark of the Covenant is an Old Testament Type of Jesus, and the Ark was to be kept in the Holy of Holies.
Think of that as Jesus entering our hearts and residing there. The inner parts of this House are described as being overlaid with pure gold, depicting the process of transformation that one undergoes within by the Holy Spirit. This overlaid gold is even placed on the outer parts of the House!
The Holy Spirit is always at work within us transforming and renewing us in spirit and in mind. It can be painful at times but what is revealed is as beautiful as an overlaying of pure gold.
